ALL Z® Plus Translucent With New Fluorescence

Jul 10, 2017

Have you noticed there is a huge flaw in the current monolithic zirconia materials provided by dental laboratories? Yeah the esthetics are marginal. They are missing the big three game changers in quality ceramics - Iridescence, Opalescence and Fluorescence. Only the best ceramics in the world have all three. Honestly I know why other labs don’t have these elements in their monolithic zirconia crowns, it’s costly to develop and is time restrictive to produce. At Pro-Craft we have invested the past year and a half developing a NEW way to deliver all three elements to you in your zirconia products using our ALL Z® and ALL Z Plus® solid zirconia.

  • Iridescences in quality ceramics is seen when luminous material within the ceramic seem to change color when seen from different angles. You're probably familiar with the way that the gemstone opal shimmers like a pearl, ceramic opalescence reflect the light in the same way, showing many small points of shifting color.
  • Fluorescence is the easiest effect to see in quality ceramics. Using a simple ultraviolet blacklight can reveal a lot about where your laboratory is regarding their technology and concern for esthetics. The image on the left is the national leading monolithic zirconia and it starts with a “B”. The one in the middle is a PRO-Craft ALL Z Plus crown and the one on the right is of natural dentition.

Now there aren’t many places where your patient will be under a blacklight like this but the fact remains, ALL other monolithic materials on the market do not fluoresce like natural teeth. This can be seen in the overall esthetics of those materials, they just don’t quite have what you need to match the shade. ALL Z and ALL Z Plus are different and you can only get it here at PRO-Craft!

You decide! What product delivers the most natural fluorescence? As always you get what you pay for. Delivering the best cosmetics and strength has always ruled the day at PRO-Craft.

Instructions For Seating ALLZ and Other Zirconia Based C&B Restorations Like most metals, zirconia exhibits a strong affinity for phosphate groups. We can take advantage of this fact with phosphate containing primers, such as Monobond Plus and Z-Prime Plus. Unfortunately, saliva also contains phosphates in the form of phospholipids, so when an ALLZ Zirconia C&B is tried in the patient’s mouth and comes in contact with saliva, the phosphate groups in the saliva bind to the zirconia oxide and cannot be rinsed out with water. Attempting to use phosphoric acid (which is full of phosphate groups) to “clean” the saliva out only makes the problem worse. The recommended way to successfully remove these phosphate groups from the interior of a crowns with the use of Ivoclean from Ivoclar. This is a zirconia oxide solution placed inside the restoration for 20 seconds and rinsed out. Due to the large concentration of free zirconia oxide in the Ivoclean, it acts as a sponge and binds to the phosphate groups that were previously bound to the ALLZ restoration. Once the Ivoclean is rinsed out, you will have a fresh bonding surface for the Monobond plus or Z-Prime Plus to bond to. The protocol would be: 1. Try in ALLZ Zirconia 2. Rinse saliva out of restoration 3. Place Ivoclean in restoration for 20 seconds and rinse 4. Cement restoration with Z-Prime plus/ Monobond Plus and place with cement of your choice or for best results bond.
